Continued efforts to take unlicensed firearms from the hands of criminals, landed three men behind bars in Villiersdorp yesterday.
Members of Villiersdorp SAPS conducted a vehicle checkpoint along the Worcester Road, when they noticed a white BMW approaching.
The members noticed how one of the occupants of the vehicle disposed of a red plastic bag from the window of the car. The driver of the BMW then turned around and sped off.
A high speed chase ensued and the vehicle was intercepted and brought back to where the plastic bag was thrown out.
Upon searching the bag the members found two firearms with ammunition in the bag.
Three adult males were arrested for the possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition.
They are expected to make a court appearance in the Caledon Magistrate’s Court once they have been charged.
