Three (3) Ethiopian Nationals who attempted paying for purchases at a wholesaler on Wick Street in the Verulam CBD – KZN were found in possession of fake R200 notes.
Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) was called out at 12:19 (Tuesday) and found that three (3) men had made purchases and had paid in cash. The cashier checked the notes and found that five (5) were fake. According to the men, they owned several tuckshops and had received the monies from customers. It was also established that another Ethiopian National had been found with fake notes at the same store on Saturday 26/04/2025.
The store declined to register a criminal case.
