On 28 April 2025, East London Crime Prevention members arrested four male suspects during crime prevention operations in Quigney and Oriental Plaza in East London.
While conducting patrols in Quigney, officers stopped and searched two males, aged 21 and 38, who consented to the search. The suspects were found in possession of 38 bankies of dagga and 1 loose quantity of dagga.
Later, while patrolling Oriental Plaza, officers apprehended a 38-year-old male found with 50 Tik bankies (weighing 0.040 kg), 4 full Boss Mandrax tablets, 20 half-pieces of Mandrax, 16 small pieces of Mandrax (weighing 0.035 kg), and an undisclosed amount of cash.
During the same operation, a 21-year-old male was arrested at Oriental Plaza after being found with 50 full Mandrax tablets and 20 Tik bankies. He faces an additional charge of dealing in drugs.
All four suspects are scheduled to appear before the East London Magistrate’s Court on 29 April 2025, facing charges of possession of dagga, possession of Mandrax, possession of Tik, and dealing in drugs
