A 23-year-old male suspect, who has been evading arrest since February 2024 following an incident involving the pointing of a firearm in a domestic violence case, was successfully apprehended on Tuesday, 06 May 2025, at approximately 09h00.
The arrest followed actionable intelligence received by the operational teams, indicating the suspect’s presence at Jamela Village. Members of the Mopani Tracking Team, Highway Patrol, and Bolobedu Detectives swiftly responded and located the suspect, who was arrested without incident.
Further investigations led the teams to the suspect’s residence at Shotong Village. A search of the premises resulted in the recovery of a firearm concealed within the house. The suspect failed to produce a valid firearm license and was subsequently charged with possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
The suspect is expected to appear before the Bolobedu Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, 07 May 2025.
