Police detectives who deal with taxi violence related matters in KwaZulu-Natal are seeking the assistance of community members in finding Richard Zwakushiwo Dlamini, who is also known as ‘Masiliva’. Dlamini has been a fugitive from justice since January 2018 when he allegedly attempted to kill the chairperson of a taxi association in Msinga.
On 02 January 2018, the victim had just finished a taxi-related meeting and was seated inside his bakkie when Dlamini and his accomplice accosted him and shot him multiple times with rifles. The victim somehow survived the heavy gunfire and a case of attempted murder was opened for investigation. Dlamini’s accomplice was later shot and killed at a well-known taxi rank in Johannesburg. Dlamini, who has minibus taxis operating in Gauteng and Msinga, is believed to be hiding Johannesburg.
Police are appealing to anyone with information about his whereabouts to contact Warrant Officer Mbatha on 076 525 1793 or call the Crime Stop number on 08600 10111.
