On Tuesday, 22 May 2025, the Durban Metro Police Drug Team, in collaboration with the Chatsworth Unit, Crime Intelligence, and Chatsworth SAPS Tracing Team, executed a successful operation following intelligence received regarding the sale of suspected stolen goods and controlled substances.
The operation led to the arrest of a Malawian national who was found in possession of items believed to have been stolen during a recent business robbery at a local footwear manufacturing factory. Among the recovered items were:
1) 6 pairs of Puma soccer boots
2) 6 pairs of school shoes
3) 31 cartons of illicit cigarettes
4) 5 bottles of controlled medication
5) R2,322 in cash
The suspect was detained at Chatsworth SAPS and charged accordingly under relevant sections of the law, including contravention of the Medicines and Related Substances Control Act.
Durban Metro Police remains committed to working with law enforcement partners to clamp down on the distribution of stolen goods and illegal substances across the municipality.
