Members of the Gauteng Traffic Police High Priority Crimes and Trio Tactical Team followed up on intelligence regarding a notorious syndicate linked to Cash-in-Transit (CIT) heists, ATM bombings, hijackings, and courier robberies.
The information led officers to a safe house in Tembisa, where they observed two suspects entering the premises with a suspicious black bag.
Officers contained the scene and secured the suspects and upon searching the bag, discovered: 2 unlicensed firearms – a rifle and 9mm pistol with magazine and 8 live rounds, 5 rifle magazines and a large quantity of rifle ammunition.
Both suspects were arrested and Investigations are ongoing to profile and link them to additional crimes.
