Three (3) house robbery suspects targeting an elderly male’s home were arrested by members of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) in Redcliffe – KZN this afternoon (Friday).
On Monday (26/05/2025), the suspects armed with knives entered the 73 year old victim’s yard. The elderly male spotted the suspects and removed his shot gun from his safe. He exited his home and confronted them, but was overpowered and deprived of the weapon.
Today (Friday, 30/05/2025), the same men entered the house and held him at knifepoint. The stole a 32 inch TV and the God Lamp. The victim’s wife returned from work and noticed the robbers in her home.
She contacted the Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) Operations Centre and reported the house robbery in progress at 15:44. The caller provided a clothing description of one of the males. All available Reaction Officers were immediately dispatched.
While on route, Officers received an update that the robbers fled the property on foot after they realised that they were being monitored. The suspects were thereafter spotted on Oakford Road by
First Responders. Reaction Officers intercepted and apprehended them. They were found in possession of the two (2) knives used in the robbery. The elderly couple arrived shortly thereafter and positively identified the three (3) men.
A crowd gathered at the scene of the arrest and several residents complained that the three (3) men were habitual criminals. Two (2) of the suspects are Malawian nationals.
They were detained at SAPS Verulam.
