Members of Operation Vala Umgodi comprising various SAPS units arrested thirteen (13) suspects aged between 18 and 45, at Waterpoort, Letsitele and Westenburg Policing areas for contravention of immigration laws, during operations conducted between 27 May and 28 May 2025.
The operations were executed through the patrols, stops and searches at the identified illegal mining sites.
Five (05) suspects aged between 20 and 40 were nabbed for contravention of immigration act at Letsitele Policing areas in the Mopani District.
In Waterpoort Policing area, under Vhembe District, Police also arrested five (05) suspects aged between 20 and 46 for contravention of immigration act.
Furthermore, another three (03) suspects aged between 18 and 45 were arrested at Westenburg Policing area in the Capricorn District.
The suspects will appear before the local Magistrate’s Courts soon.
