A suspect who was wanted for shooting at police officers at Zamimpilo Informal Settlement on the 3rd of June 2025 was located to Soul City Informal Settlement in Kagiso.
Information was received that the armed suspects are at an illegal mining activity. As the members of Operation Vala Umgodi were confronting the suspects on Friday the 13th 2025, one of them started firing shots at the police and shotout ensued. The suspect was fatally wounded and police recovered a pistol that he was using.
The recovered firearm will be taken for ballistic test to establish if it was not use in other crimes.
