On Wednesday 11 June 2025 at 12:30, the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) Northern Region Task Team officers in collaboration other stakeholders, apprehended six (6) suspects in the Kempton Park area.
While conducting crime prevention, they received intel about a business robbery in progress on North road, Officers swifty responded to the scene. Upon arrival and entering the vicinity, Officers noticed a female tied up and physically assaulted. They managed to corner and apprehend three (3) male suspects and two(2) female suspects. One(1) suspect tried to run away but was caught with a Gibsan 9mm firearm, and two (2) Bereda firearms.
It is alleged that the suspects demanded money from the company and forced workers to open the safe. Money was recovered in one of the suspects bag together with jewellery that was also taken.
The suspects between the ages of thirty-three (33) and forty-three (43) years were handcuffed and detained at the Kempton Park Police Station. A case of business robbery, possession of unlicenced firearm and ammunition was registered. They are expected to appear at the Kempton Park Magistrate’s court soon.
