Continued efforts to rid communities of drugs and firearms yielded success following the arrests of suspects for the possession of drugs in separate incidents on Monday, 16 June 2025.
Members of the Anti-Gang Unit executed a search warrant at a premises in Malmesbury and confiscated 68 plastic packets containing cocaine, 82 extacy tablets, two cellular telephones and bankcards. A 42-year-old man was arrested for the possession of drugs. The same members searched another premises and confiscated a shotgun. No one was arrested and an inquiry was registered pending further investigation.
In an unrelated matter members of Operation Shanela searched a premises in Grasryk Court, Ottery and arrested a 28 year old male for dealing in drugs. The members followed up on information about drugs at the premises, searched and confiscated 99 mandrax tablets, 111 plastic packets containing crystal meth, four packets of dagga and an undisclosed amount of cash, believed to be from the proceeds of crime.
The suspects will make their respective court appearances in the Malmesbury and Wynberg Magistrates’ Courts once they have been charged.
