A 76-year-old man was assaulted twice on his head with a knobkerrie during a house robbery in Brindhaven – KZN a short while ago (Thursday).
Members of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) are currently (15:11) searching for a lone suspect who fled with a TV and the victim’s cellphone. He is dressed in a pink/red t-shirt. No further description could be obtained.
The incident occurred an hour earlier, but the victim was unable to contact anyone due to him being deprived of his cellphone. He sought assistance from a neighbour when they returned to their residence.
Reaction Officers established that the robber gained entry into the house through an unsecured window. He confronted the Pensioner and assaulted him with a knobkerrie. The suspect stole valuables and fled on foot. The man received First Aid on scene.
He believes that his attacker works as a Gardener in the area, but this could not be confirmed.
