A robbery suspect using a toy firearm was shot and killed in Ogunjini – KZN this afternoon (Friday).
A Security Officer employed at a Durban based company was retuning to his residence when he confronted by a male who produced a firearm and demanded his valuables. The victim drew his personal weapon and shot the suspect twice in the chest. The critically injured male dropped his gun and fled into a bush where he collapsed.
Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) received a call for assistance at approximately 20:19. Reaction Officers were immediately dispatched and on arrival located the deceased suspect in a bush approximately five (5) meters from road. The firearm he used was confirmed to be a toy (picture 3).
The victim informed Reaction Officers that he was robbed of his Samsung cellphone and wallet by four (4) armed suspects a week ago on the same stretch of road. He thereafter decided to conceal carry his personal licensed 9mm pistol to and from his place of employment.
The victim was not injured.
