A Scrap Collector accused of theft was kidnapped and assaulted before being dumped for dead in Tongaat – KZN today (Friday).
Members of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) were called out to a sugarcane plantation off Watson Highway after a passerby discovered the man in a bush next to an unpaved road. Reaction Officers were dispatched and arrived at the location at 12:27.
During an interview, the injured male informed Officers that three (3) males kidnapped him while he was asleep in an abandoned building on Sportpark Close in Shastri Park, Phoenix – KZN during the early hours of this morning. They placed a bag over his head and transported him to a different abandoned property.
The men began assaulting him with golf clubs, baseball bats and hockey sticks demanding information on the location of his friend. They accused him and his friend of theft. They thereafter loaded him into the rear of a Toyota Hilux bakkie and drove him to Tongaat – KZN and dumped him for dead in an isolated location.
He sustained a fracture to his right leg and right arm.
