The Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) made a significant arrest on 06 July 2025, linked to a case of armed robbery and murder.
Responding to a complaint from Vumacam regarding a white Honda Amaze wanted in connection with Midrand SAPS case, JMPD K9 Unit officers intercepted the vehicle. The vehicle was spotted on Voster Avenue, heading towards Glen Avenue in Glenanda, and subsequently stopped in an open field near a Caltex garage.
Officers approached the driver who claimed to be renting the vehicle for use with Bolt and In-Drive and denied any knowledge of the alleged crimes.
Despite his claims, the individual was placed under arrest for possession of a motor vehicle used in the commission of a crime (armed robbery and murder). He was detained to Mondeor SAPS.
The vehicle has been booked in at SAPS Aeroton vehicle pound for further processing.
The JMPD commends the swift action of its K9 Unit and the valuable information provided by Vumacam, which led to this successful apprehension. The department remains committed to ensuring the safety and security of all Johannesburg residents.
