On Wednesday, 09 July 2025 at approximately 07:45, crime intelligence led to the arrest of four male suspects aged between 26 and 54 in the Ngcengane locality. The suspects were found in possession of 10 suspected stolen sheep, which were recovered.
The four suspects, all from Manyosini locality, were apprehended by police at Ngcengane locality after their Polo sedan broke down. They are accused of stealing sheep in the neighbouring Khambi locality.
Two owners from the Khambi locality have positively identified the stolen sheep as theirs, valued at approximately R20 000-00. The suspects will appear before the Mthatha Magistrate’s Court soon, facing charges for possession of suspected stolen stock.
“Intensifying the fight against stock theft is one of our priorities and we urge all communities to work closely with police to curb the scourge,” said OR Tambo District Commissioner, Major General Norman Modishana as he applauded all police members involved in the operation.
