Police members of the Anti-Gang Unit deployed in greater Mitchells Plain to combat the ongoing gang violence retrieved two firearms with ammunition on Thursday 10 July 2025.
The police members conducted crime combatting operations in Lentegeur policing precinct when they responded to information regarding the possible storage of firearms and ammunition at an identified residence in Suikerbos Street. They approached the house and tactically entered the premises at about 22:40, upon which a search ensued. Their tenacity resulted in the confiscation of two firearms and ammunition and the detention of a 42-year-old man for the unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition.
Once charged, the suspect is expected to make a court appearance in the Mitchell’s Plain Magistrates’ court on the mentioned charge.
