Multi-disciplinary Operation Shanela II team arrested a 25-year-old foreign national for dealing in drugs in Douglas Street, Bloemfontein Central Business District. The integrated forces team stormed a building identified as a drug hotspot in Douglas Street. A search was conducted and rolled dagga zols, weed edibles, twenty (20) bankies of dagga, and cash believed to be proceeds of drugs sale were confiscated.
Various operational concepts such as foot patrols, vehicle patrols and stop-and-search were carried out in other identified crime hot spots. Roadblocks were assembled simultaneously on N1 National Road, N8 National Road and R702 Road. A total number of twelve (12) persons were arrested for Contravention of Immigration Act. Traffic fines for driving without driver’s license, driving unroadworthy vehicle and other transgressions in terms of National Road Traffic Act were issued out.
Integrated forces also conducted compliance inspections. Fines for failure to display liquor trading license and failure to appoint a manager were issued in terms of Free State Gambling and Liquor Act. Another fine was issued in terms of food stuffs Cosmetics and disinfectants Act 54 of 1972.
