On Monday evening, members of KZN VIP successfully apprehended a suspect involved in an attempted house break-in and theft along Phoenix Highway.
The suspect had reportedly entered a residential yard and stolen vehicle parts from a car undergoing repairs. He then fled the scene from Sunford towards the Stanmore area. The homeowner, in coordination with KZN VIP officers, launched a search operation and managed to locate the suspect along Phoenix Highway, opposite Stanmore Drive.
Upon confrontation, the suspect became violent, attempting to stab one of the armed reaction officers during a scuffle. Despite his aggressive behavior, the officers managed to restrain him.
During the incident, a female resident from Rushbury began filming the arrest and attempted to intervene, urging officers not to handcuff the suspect even after his violent actions.
The suspect was ultimately taken into custody without injury and transported to Phoenix SAPS for further processing. The stolen items were also recovered at the scene.
KZN VIP urges the public to cooperate with law enforcement officers and allow them to carry out their duties. Officers regularly place themselves in dangerous situations to help maintain the safety and security of our communities.
