A couple aged 85 & 76 were assaulted during a home invasion on Kissoon Road in Ottawa – KZN this afternoon (Friday).
The Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) Operations Centre received a call for assistance at approximately 19:19 from a tenant on the property. On arrival, Reaction Officers were informed that four (4) suspects confronted a private Security Officer posted on the property. One (1) of the perpetrators was in possession of a firearm.
They instructed the victim to call out to the resident and request something to eat. They broke a window and entered the house after he declined to call out to the elderly couple.
The suspects confronted the male victim and began assaulting him on his head with a stick. The elderly female was thrown to the floor and kicked repeatedly in the chest. The robbers grabbed two (2) Nokia cellphones and fled when she started screaming for assistance.
It could not be confirmed if the robbers fled on foot or in a vehicle.
