Multiple homes were gutted in a fire in Canelands, KZN, yesterday (Monday) afternoon.
Members of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) were called out to an informal settlement on New Glasgow Road at approximately 22:48. On arrival, Reaction Officers found approximately six (6) wood & iron homes engulfed in flames. Residents salvaged their valuables before being evacuated. Firefighters arrived shortly thereafter and extinguished the blaze.
Illegal electricity connections were suspected to be the cause of the fire.
