Just before 10h45AM, KZNVIP Control Centre received reports of an armed robbery in progress at a tuckshop in Grove End, Phoenix, today (24 July 2025).
All available response officers were immediately dispatched to the location.
Upon arrival, KZN VIP Reaction Officers interviewed the complainant, who stated that an Indian male, dressed in black pants, barefoot, and shirtless, entered the store posing as a customer.
The suspect attempted to pull the cash register toward himself. When the shopkeeper resisted, the suspect drew a knife and stabbed the victim on his neck before fleeing. The suspect is a known male from the area and also a drug user.
KZNVIP Medical and Rescue Teams were dispatched to the scene however, the victim was transported privately to a medical facility prior to their arrival.

The case has been handed over to SAPS Phoenix for further investigation.
