A 37-year-old male was arrested in Bloemfontein today, 24 July 2025, for allegedly damaging essential electricity infrastructure and being in possession of housebreaking implements.
At approximately 04:30 this morning, members of the Parkroad Intervention Unit were conducting routine patrols when they spotted a male suspect on a tree, actively cutting electricity wires. The officers quickly and tactically brought the suspect down from the tree.
Upon searching the suspect, police discovered electric cables and various housebreaking implements in his possession. It is alleged that the damage cost is worth an estimated R200 000.
The suspect faces charges of damage to essential infrastructure and possession of housebreaking implements. He is expected to appear in the Bloemfontein Magistrate’s Court soon.
