Kwanonqaba police made a breakthrough with the arrest of two suspects following a house robbery which was perpetrated at Dana Bay outside Mossel Bay during the early hours of this morning.
Preliminary reports indicate that on Friday, 25 July 2025 at about 01:45 police responded to a house robbery at E Grata Street, Dana Bay. On arrival they found a man (32) who was accosted by two men, one of them armed with a firearm. The pair ransacked the residence and took several items before they fled the scene on foot. A search for the pair commenced immediately. The team consisting of Kwanonqaba police, Mossel Bay Law Enforcement and other strategic role-players responded to information when they proceeded to Kwanonqaba.
Further investigation led the team to a house at Mzola Street in Asla Park, Kwanonqaba where the assailants were tracked down. The police found several items which included a television, laptops, cellphones, clothing, shoes, keys and electrical appliances in their possession. These items with an estimated value of R100 000 were confiscated and the suspects arrested.
The suspects aged 32 and 37 both Mozambican nationals remain in police custody. They are expected to make their first court appearance in the Mossel Bay Magistrates’ court on Monday, 28 July 2025 on charges of house robbery and possession of stolen property.
Garden Route District Commissioner, Major General Phumzile Cetyana, lauded the team for their swift response which led to the arrest and recovery of the stolen items.
