The victim of a robbery returning from the Verulam SAPS spotted a suspect attempting to sell her laptop in Waterloo – KZN today (Wednesday).
A lone suspect armed with a knife entered a property on Frog Road during the early hours of this morning (Wednesday). The property houses seven (7) tenants. The robber forcefully gained entry into one of the rooms and stole an HP laptop & Oppo A58 cellphone. The victim confronted the man. He produced a knife during the scuffle and managed to flee on foot.
The female was returning to her residence after registering a criminal case when she spotted the suspect attempting to sell her laptop several hours later. She rallied the community and apprehended the male before contacting the Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) Operations Centre for assistance.
On arrival, Reaction Officers interviewed the suspect. He stated that he sold the cellphone to a taxi driver. The taxi driver arrived on scene and returner the cellphone while Officers were attempting to track him
The perpetrator was placed under arrest and handed over to the Verulam SAPS.
