Last week, through OPERATION CYCLONE II, the South African Police Service (SAPS) carried out intelligence-led operations and dismantled an organised crime syndicate in Soshanguve.
On 23 July 2025, police arrested two suspects and seized several fraudulent documents, certificates, and electronic equipment during two separate operations.
Amongst the recovered items are 42 green South African identity books, six ID smart cards, passports, drivers license cards, SIM cards from different networks, Umalusi national senior certificates, motor vehicle licence disks, laptops, printers, external hard drives, electronic equipment, and several other items.
These arrests and seizures highlight the SAPS’ commitment in targeting organised crime and document fraud. The swift response of various specialised units, underpinned by sound intelligence gathering, has ensured the rapid arrest of the suspects and the recovery of critical evidence that will aid in ongoing investigations.
Parallel to other crime combating operations, OPERATION CYCLONE II focuses on tackling crime and criminal syndicates operating within the communities of Soshanguve, Jukulyn, Mabopane, and Hammanskraal.
