One man, suspected to be part of a group of hijackers, was shot dead during a pursuit with a security/vehicle tracking company in Hammarsdale this afternoon.
Just before 3pm, Mi7’s Emergency Medical Services was dispatched after reports of a shooting incident. An ambulance stationed at the Mi7 base at Hibiscus Hospital Cato Ridge was sent out along with Mi7’s Advanced Life Support Rapid Response vehicle.
According to reports from the scene, a private security/vehicle tracking company were in an active pursuit of a stolen vehicle allegedly hijacked by four men – who were the occupants. It is alleged the hijackers opened fire on the security teams, who then reciprocated.
During the altercation, one suspect was shot dead – declared deceased by Mi7 medics on scene. Two others were treated for minor injuries and handed over into police custody. The fourth is believed to have fled on foot.
No members of the security team were injured.
