The Acting Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in the Mpumalanga, Major General (Dr) Zeph Mkhwanazi has strongly condemned the act of vigilantism following the killing of a man on Sunday, 17 August 2025 at Embalenhle.
According to reports, a business owner is said to have noticed, through surveillance cameras, a person attempting to break into his premises. The owner then raised an alarm by blowing a whistle, which drew the attention of surrounding community members. The alleged intruder was subsequently assaulted by members of the community. His lifeless body was discovered the next morning.
Four family members, aged between 18 and 52, were arrested for murder on Sunday, 17 August 2025.
