In a joint operation by Alexandra VISPOL Crime Prevention, Gauteng Traffic Wardens, and several security companies, officers conducted routine stop-and-search patrols in Alexandra.
During the patrol, officers noticed a local tavern with its interior lights switched off immediately after police arrival, raising suspicion. Upon searching the premises, they recovered multiple unlicensed firearms, including a high-caliber rifle and live ammunition.
One suspect was arrested on the scene for possession of the firearms and ammunition. The suspect was further found in possession of a SANDF uniform, leading to an additional charge of impersonating an SANDF member.
Investigations are ongoing, and more arrests are expected.
