Efforts to curb gang violence in Mitchell’s Plain yielded success when police members arrested two suspects for the illegal possession of firearms and ammunition on Thursday night, 04 September 2025 during crime combatting operations.
Members of the Anti-Gang Unit were conducting crime prevention operations in Portlands, Mitchell’s Plain, when they searched a male who was trying to evade the police when he saw them approaching. The apprehended the suspect and found in his possession a firearm with ammunition. He was subsequently arrested for the possession thereof.
Furthermore, the members searched another male in Beacon Valley and arrested him after they found him in possession of a revolver with ammunition.
The suspects will appear the Mitchell’s Plain Magistrates’ Court once they have been charged.
