On Sunday 28 September 2025 at about 06:00, the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) Bronberg Precinct Officers arrested five (5) suspects for driving under the influence of intoxicating substances, in the Crystal Park area.
The Officers conducted a drunk and driving operation in the Crystal Park area, where motorists were stopped and checked for compliance.
The first motorist was stopped and arrested for driving under the influence of an intoxicating substance, and was found to be over the required legal limit, and he claimed that he only drunk one glass of alcohol. Some of the arrested motorists had a strong odour of alcohol when officers interacted with them, others had slurred speech, and all five suspects were taken to a health care centre for blood samples to be taken.
Later the suspects were arrested and detained at Crystal Park police station and will soon appear before the Magistrate’s court.
