An intelligence-driven operation results in the arrest of a female suspect, age 21, when police intercepted her and discovered that she was in possession of drugs.
On Tuesday, October 21, 2025, police allegedly received a tip regarding a woman who may have been transporting drugs to an inmate awaiting trial at court. Welkom Crime Intelligence and the Welkom Anti-Gang Unit operationalized the information. The alleged suspect was seen at Weeber Street while investigating the information. Permission to search was requested and granted. A thorough search of the alleged suspect was conducted privately. The female was discovered to be in possession of mandrax tablets, which were found concealed on her body. The drugs were found wrapped with plastic and placed inside a sock.
Police confiscated fifty (50) mandrax tablets estimated to be valued at R3 000.
The suspect (21) was subsequently arrested for possession of drugs. She is expected to appear before the Odendaalsrus Magistrate’s Court soon.
