Members attached to Welkom Public Order Policing (POP) swiftly responded to information and arrested two suspects for alleged drug possession in Hennenman.
It is alleged that on Thursday, 23 October 2025 police received information from a concerned member of the community about houses where drugs are being sold. Information was operationalised and led them to Phomolong location. On arrival at the first identified house, members introduced themselves and requested permission to search, and it was granted. While searching police discovered eleven halves of mandrax tablets, three ziplock bags of crystal meth and money. The 45-year-old male suspect was arrested for possession of drugs.
In a separate incident, a 40-year-old male was arrested for possession of drugs at Motseki informal settlement. During the search at the house, members found nine ziplock bags of crystal meth and money hidden in the bedroom.
Drugs and money were confiscated by police.
The two suspects aged 45 and 40 are expected to appear before the Hennenman Magistrate’s Court on charges of possession of drugs.
