A 38-year-old Scrap Collector was seriously injured after he was stabbed and run over along J G Champion Drive in Phoenix – KZN today (Wednesday).
Members of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) arrived on scene at approximately 08:28 and interviewed witnesses, who stated that the victim was approached by two (2) unknown suspects. An altercation ensued, during which the suspects assaulted the man. He attempted to flee but was pursued, overpowered, and stabbed multiple times. His attackers then stole a bag containing scrap metal and fled the scene.
Despite his injuries, the seriously injured male fled in an attempt to seek assistance. While doing so, he was struck by a white Toyota Hilux bakkie at the intersection of J G Champion Drive and Palmview Drive in Phoenix – KZN. The driver failed to stop and drove off. The victim suffered serious injuries, including critical abdominal trauma.
He was stabilised on scene by RUSA Paramedics before being expedited to a specialist medical facility for further treatment.
