A 50-year-old father has been left with approximately 80% burns following a severe house fire in the Tiffmore area, Phoenix.
KZN VIP Emergency Medical Teams responded swiftly after receiving urgent requests for assistance. Upon arrival, medics found the male patient suffering from extensive burn injuries across most of his body.
The cause of the fire remains unconfirmed. Fire Department crews acted rapidly, preventing the blaze from spreading to neighbouring attached homes.
At the time of the incident, the father and his daughter were inside the residence. It is believed the father was lying down and unaware the house had caught alight. Neighbours and community members bravely intervened, assisting in rescuing both occupants from the burning home.
KZN VIP Medics, together with EMRS, provided emergency treatment on scene before rapidly transporting the patient to a medical facility for further medical care. The daughter sustained no physical injuries but was left severely traumatised.
