Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) has recently witnessed a surge in cases involving female students engaging in drug peddling at schools. Several of these cases were attended to by Reaction Officers who were called to homes or schools by frustrated parents who had either received information or found their daughters with illegal substances. Some of these parents had found their teenage daughters being fetched and dropped off at secondary schools by drug dealers.
When female Reaction Officers interviewed the school girls, they established that the students (grade 8-12) were involved in peddling & the use of drugs at various schools in Durban and surrounding areas. Information that would identify the schools and the students have been intentionally withheld.
