The #SAPS Fezile Dabi District Infrastructure Task Team has successfully arrested four suspects aged between 43 and 49 in connection with a #StockTheft incident near Viljoenskroon.
On Thursday, 9 April 2026, at about 20:00, members of the Kroonstad Infrastructure Team received information about individuals allegedly planning to steal sheep from a farm along Vredefort Road. The information was immediately followed up, and a waylay operation was executed.
On Friday, 10 April 2026, at approximately 05:30, members spotted a suspicious bakkie travelling on the R76 near Viljoenskroon without registration numbers. The vehicle was stopped near one of the plots, where the four male suspects were found in possession of twelve (12) sheep carcasses.
Further investigation led members to the farm where the sheep had been stolen, where an additional four (4) sheep carcasses were recovered.
The suspects were arrested and detained, and the vehicle used in the commission of the crime was seized as part of the investigation.
The suspects are expected to appear before the Kroonstad Magistrate’s Court soon on charges of stock theft.
