Copper pipe thief stopped in his tracks.
On Monday, Fidelity Services Group received information that an intruder was on a property in Pietermaritzburg.
The community sent an alert out on a WhatsApp group describing the suspect. The suspect had hidden copper pipes in a bushy area.
As the team was patrolling, they found the suspect matching the description. He was handcuffed and taken back to the house, where he stole the pipes.
SAPS was informed, and the criminal was booked in. A case was open for housebreaking and theft of copper pipes with damages to the value of R35 – R40k.
