Parkweg Detectives are appealing to the community for assistance in identifying and locating a person of interest who may hold vital information regarding an attempted murder case currently under investigation.
The investigation stems from an occurrence on 27 February 2026 at approximately 11:50. An 18-year-old victim was driving along Berry Richter Road in Fleurdal when he encountered a mechanic known to him as “Johannes.”
The victim approached the mechanic to enquire about a pending refund. During the interaction, “Johannes” reportedly told the victim they should meet later that afternoon at 15:00. It is further alleged that the mechanic took sweets from his own vehicle and offered them to the victim. The 18-year-old consumed one of the sweets.
Shortly after driving away, the victim began experiencing severe stomach cramps and intense physical pain.
The victim managed to reach a friend’s residence, where his condition rapidly deteriorated. He was rushed to a local hospital for emergency treatment. Medical professionals confirmed that the victim had ingested poison.
A case of attempted murder has been opened. The suspect, identified only as Johannes, is currently at large.
The SAPS is requesting that the gentleman depicted in the attached photograph come forward, as it is believed he may be able to shed light on the circumstances of this investigation.
