Members of #OperationProsper, comprising SAPS, #SANDF, and City of Cape Town Law Enforcement, jointly conducted an intelligence-driven operation in the Grassy Park policing precinct on Friday, 17 April 2026. During the operation, they went to an address at Impala Court, Conrad Road, Ottery, where they found a 36-year-old gang-affiliated male suspect.
When asked about the firearm, the suspect pointed to a kitchen cupboard. A black 9mm pistol with 75 rounds of ammunition was recovered, and the suspect was arrested for possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
He will make his first appearance at the Wynberg Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 20 April 2026. Meanwhile, members of the Kensington Crime Prevention Unit acted on information received about a suspect standing at the corner of Vliegtuig Avenue and Ventura Street, in Factreton, with a firearm. As members approached, the suspect fled to a house in Ventura Street, where he was apprehended. The members found a 9mm pistol with 27 rounds of ammunition while searching him.
The 19-year-old gang-affiliated male will appear at the Cape Town Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 20 April 2026, for possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition. #PartnershipPolicing #fightingcrime #GunsOffTheStreets
