Please be advised that a protest action is planned for today in the Boksburg CBD area, with indications that participants may gather in and around the flats behind the Parkdene Boulevard Shopping Complex before proceeding along Leeuwpoort Street towards the Civic Centre.
During an early-morning assessment of the area, whistles were being blown and groups of people were already gathering. This suggests that protest activities may commence shortly and could lead to road closures, traffic congestion, and possible disruptions to businesses and public transport routes.
Motorists are urged to exercise extreme caution and, where possible, avoid the following areas:
* Parkdene Boulevard Shopping Complex
* Leeuwpoort Street
* Boksburg CBD
* Civic Centre precinct
* Surrounding roads feeding into the town centre
Residents travelling to work, schools, medical facilities, or businesses should consider alternative routes and allow additional travel time.
At the time of my observation, there was no visible law enforcement presence in the immediate area. While everyone has the constitutional right to protest peacefully, road users and residents should remain vigilant and avoid situations that may place their safety at risk.
I will continue monitoring developments and will provide updates as information becomes available.
Please prioritise your safety and report any incidents to the relevant law enforcement authorities.
Regards,
Cllr Marius De Vos
Ward 32 Councillor
