A man drowned after a canoe he was fishing from overturned at the Inanda Dam in Inanda – KZN today (Saturday).
Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) received a call for assistance at approximately 12:17 after individuals at the recreational facility witnessed the male struggling in the water. On arrival, RUSA
Members found the SAPS & Metro Police Search & Rescue in attendance. Officials were in the process of launching an inflatable boat to search for the man’s body.
It was alleged that the canoe overturned after it struck the wake of a passing boat. The victim was seen struggling before he disappeared under water.
A member of the public attempted a rescue, but was unsuccessful.
