Midlands EMS K9 Unit, together with Midlands EMS advanced life support crews, responded to a reported shooting incident in Tweedie, KwaZulu-Natal. The response was carried out with the support of Africa 911 Tactical security and members of SAPS.
Upon arrival, emergency personnel encountered a large crowd gathered around the scene. Due to the nature of the incident and the tense atmosphere, the deployment of both K9 and tactical security teams was essential to ensure the safety of the crews on scene.
Tragically, one individual was found to have sustained fatal gunshot wounds and was declared deceased at the scene by Midlands EMS paramedics.
K9 Hunter was instrumental in the rapid search of the area and successfully located several spent cartridges and bullets, assisting SAPS in preserving crucial evidence.
The area was secured and formally handed over to SAPS for further investigation.
