Members of Operation Vala Umgodi consisting of various SAPS units nabbed eighteen (18) suspects aged between 20 and 47, at Mopani, Vhembe and Sekhukhune, Districts for contravention of immigration laws, during operations conducted between 07 May and 09 May 2025.
The operations were executed through the stop and searches, and patrols at the identified illegal mining sites.
Four (04) suspects aged between 20 and 40 were nabbed for contravention of Immigration Act at the Modjadjiskoof and Letsitele Policing areas in the Mopani District.
In the Vhembe District, seven (07) suspects aged between 23 and 47 were arrested at the Waterpoort Policng area.
Moreover, another seven (07) suspects aged 18 and 37 were arrested at Hlogotlou Policing area in the Sekhukhune District.
Some of the suspects have started to appear before the local Magistrate’s Court.
