Phoenix, KZN – Emergency teams responded to a tragic house fire along Caneside Drive in Phoenix, where a man lost his life and a woman was left critically injured.
KZNVIP Emergency Response Teams were dispatched to the scene following reports of a house engulfed in flames. Upon arrival, neighbors were seen attempting to break into the residence and control the blaze, but were hindered by the rapidly spreading fire.
Despite the combined efforts of community members and emergency responders, the male homeowner was found severely burned and showing no signs of life. Paramedics declared him deceased at the scene.
The female occupant, believed to be his wife, sustained extensive burns and was stabilized on site before being urgently transported to a nearby medical facility for further treatment.
At this time, the circumstances leading up to the fire remain unknown. Emergency services, including fire and law enforcement officials, were in attendance and an investigation is currently underway.
