A wood & iron home was gutted in a fire on Venus Road in Mount Vernon – KZN yesterday afternoon (Friday).
Members of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) arrived on scene at approximately 23:09 and discovered the public attempting to douse the flames with buckets of water. It was established that a 35-year-old man was asleep in the house with a two (2) plate stove switched on. He woke up after he heard neighbours calling out to him and discovered his house on fire. He managed to exit the home without injury.
The house was completely gutted.
