Last Thursday afternoon, a 19 year old went missing while fishing in the Tugela River.
Teams from IPSS Search & Rescue, SAPS S&R, Maphumulo SAPS, the local community and Badul Air, searched the river extensively on Friday and Saturday, making use of drones, a helicopters and inflatable crocs.
Sadly, there was no sign of the young man.
Earlier today, the news came in that a member of the local community had found his body, some way down from where he was last seen.
IPSS Search & Rescue, SAPS S&R, Badul Air and Maphumulo SAPS returned to the area, and were able to recover his remains. Due to the difficult terrain and distance from the road, the Badul Air Helicoter was used to move his body to the waiting vehicles.
Our condolences go out to the friends and family of the deceased, and we hope that his recovery will bring some closure to his loved ones.
