Four males who were allegedly en route to commit a robbery were fatally wounded during a shootout with the police in Randfontein, on Tuesday, 05 August 2025, at approximately 09:30. Police recovered three firearms, a rifle and two pistols that were used by the suspects.
Members from Eastern Cape Crime Intelligence alerted the police in Gauteng about the suspects who were planning to rob a businessman in Randfontein, West Rand.
The police from Gauteng Tactical Response Team, Gauteng Anti-Gang Unit and Fidelity Security were deployed on the road that the suspects were going to use.
A white Toyota Starlet that matched the description given was spotted at Ventersdorp Road in Randfontein, with four occupants. As the police were stopping the car, suspects started shooting at the police and a shootout ensued.
