Mpumalanga MEC for Community Safety, Security and Liaison, Mr. Jackie Macie will host a Roll Call for all Traffic Law Enforcement in the province on Thursday in Mbombela. The Roll Call is an initiative that is intended to mobilise all traffic law enforcement in the province as part of the preparation for the Implementation of the Festive Season Road Safety Campaign.
The event is also aligned with the Festive Season Road Safety Strategy which will focus on increased law enforcement visibility characterized by operations on identified routes that will be conducted during specific peak travel times and weekends during the holiday period.
Furthermore, the MEC who will be accompanied by the Deputy Minister of Transport, Mr. Mkhuleko Hlengwa, and the MEC for Public Works, Roads and Transport, Mr. Thulasizwe Thomo, will rally traffic law enforcement officers and other members of the security cluster behind the campaign to bring down road crashes during the festive period.
Macie will also use the Roll Call to underscore the significance of increased collaboration between provincial and local municipalities traffic law enforcement to achieving desired impact.
The MEC also hopes to foster teamwork and discipline among all members of the cluster and the emergency personnel who will be at the country’s service to save lives on the road during the holidays.
